Audrey Froehlich Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 1, 2025.
Audrey Regina Froehlich (née Tully), age 91, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, in Elk Grove, California. She was born on July 22, 1933, in Plainfield, New Jersey. She grew up in the Bronx and counted herself as a proud New Yorker. She was married in 1956 to her husband George. They moved to California in 1957. Audrey lived a long and vibrant life marked by devotion to family, faith, and adventure.

Audrey began her professional journey by following in her mother's footsteps into the phone company, working in both New York and California. In 1981, she embarked on a new chapter with FedEx, where she built a successful career until her retirement in 2000. Her work ethic, influence and adaptability were evident throughout her professional life.

A devoted member of St. Charles Borromeo Church and School community for many years, Audrey was deeply involved in parish life. She volunteered at the school while her children attended and later became a beloved fixture at the church as both a lector and Eucharistic Minister. She volunteered for St Vincent de Paul and Loaves and Fishes. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life.

Audrey's love for her family was unwavering. She is lovingly remembered by her son Michael Froehlich (Teresa), daughter Mary Hastings (Lance), granddaughters Natalie Lenhardt (Luke), Lauren Hastings, Olivia Froehlich, and Amelia Froehlich; grandson Grant Hastings; and great-grandson James Lenhardt. She also leaves behind her loving sisters Barbara Hamer and Patricia Perry, sisters-in-law Alberta Froehlich, Rita Kulawik and Rosalie Moreau, and numerous nieces and nephews across the country.

She was preceded in death by her husband George Froehlich; parents John and Marion Tully; sisters Jacqueline Nevins and Janet Tully; and brother John Tully.

Audrey had a zest for life that extended far beyond her home. A passionate traveler, she explored many exciting international destinations with family and friends. She loved New York, visiting often over the years to see family, friends and Broadway shows. One of her most cherished traditions was treating each of her grandchildren to their own special trip abroad-memories that will be treasured for generations.

Known for her creativity and warmth, Audrey found joy in reading, sewing, crafts, gardening, and cooking. Her Christmas fudge became a holiday favorite among those who knew her best, as did her legendary chicken enchiladas-both made with love and shared generously.

Audrey took immense pride in the accomplishments of her grandchildren. She contributed to each of their college educations and celebrated their graduations from Jesuit universities with great joy.

Audrey Froehlich will be remembered as a loving, generous, and feisty mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched with kindness, strength, humor-and an adventurous spirit that never waned.

May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.

Donations in memory of Audrey should be sent to Loaves and Fishes in Sacramento.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00am on Monday May 19th at Good Shepard Catholic Church. 9539 Racquet Ct. Elk Grove, CA 95758
