Audrey "Jeanie" Reed Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 31, 2024.
Audrey "Jeanie" Reed, born on January 14, 1944, to Ray and Blanche Dickman in Colorado, passed away, leaving behind a cherished legacy of love and service.Jeanie grew up in Delta, Colorado and attended Delta schools. Jeanie had 11 siblings and following the death of her mother in 1960, took on the responsibility of caring for her younger siblings while working as a waitress.

In 1962, Jeanie married Raymond "Butch" Reed. Together, they had three children: Wayne, Patricia, and Rod. In 1977, the family moved to Kemmerer, Wyoming, where both Butch and Jeanie became integral members of their community. An important part of their community was Jeanie's membership in Al-Anon, and Butch's dedication to Alcoholics Anonymous. Through AA they traveled the United States and met many lifelong friends. Together, they worked tirelessly to help hundreds achieve and maintain sobriety. Jeanie was known for always having a full pot of coffee, a seat at her table, and it was never too late to call.

Following retirement, Butch and Jeanie moved to Bouse, Arizona where they continued to expand their connections. Jeanie formed many meaningful relationships with her neighbors and friends at the bingo hall.

Affectionately called "Nana" by those who loved her most, Jeanie was a devoted grandmother to her eight grandchildren, when they were young she was rarely seen without at least one of them in tow. Her other passions included gardening, wildflowers, rock hunting, and country music. Jeanie was an avid reader, a dog lover, and a caretaker to those in need. Her family would like to express gratitude to Jeanie's neighbors in Bouse, AZ for the care, companionship, support and love shown to her throughout the years.

She is preceded in death by her grandson Brayden, daughter Patricia, husband Ray, her parents, and 6 of her siblings. She is survived by her two sons, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers, and countless friends.

Jeanie loved the mountains of Wyoming, and will be returned home with a scattering of her ashes following a small memorial service for friends and family Sunday, September 29th at Diamondville Park from 11am-3pm Diamondville, Wyoming.

I remember when I would be over at her house and we would go lay down in her bed snuggle up and she would say " now closes your eyes and listen and only share my voice while I tell you a story and she was going to such detail and make you feel like you were in the mountains walking along the river with her listening to the trees wrestling looking at the wild flowers singing wild animals feeling the warm sun on you and we'll just take a nap" and she to all of us grandkids about rainbows by the prisms with the prisms that would hang in the kitchen window shining rainbows everywhere teaching us the colors as they danced around the room I'm going to miss her so much
