Obituary for Audrey Anne Smalley (Geimer)

In Loving Memory of Audrey Anne Smalley (Geimer)

Audrey Anne Smalley (Geimer), age 89, of Lake Villa, Illinois, passed away peacefully in her home on June 26, 2025. A proud mother of five and "Mom to the world," Audrey lived a life defined by love, service, and selflessness.

She was born on April 26, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, to Charles and Bertha Geimer (Belohlavek). Audrey lost her mother at a very young age and was lovingly raised by her father, Charles, with the support of extended family. Alongside her sister JoAnne, Audrey learned early the meaning of resilience, compassion, and deep familial bonds-qualities that she carried with grace throughout her life.

Audrey dedicated herself to her family as a loving mother and homemaker. She also worked as a waitress and in daycare, where her nurturing spirit and warm personality touched the lives of many. Whether caring for children or serving customers, Audrey brought kindness, patience, and joy to everyone she encountered.

Audrey raised her family in Wheeling, Illinois, where her home became a hub of warmth, laughter, and unforgettable memories. In her later years, she moved to Gurnee, Illinois, to be closer to family-continuing the strong bonds she held so dear throughout her life.

Audrey found her greatest joy in being with her family & friends-whether gathered around the dinner table, celebrating holidays, or enjoying a peaceful moment on an ordinary day. She especially loved baking for her loved ones, filling her home with delicious aromas and cherished traditions. In quieter moments, she delighted in working on puzzles, a pastime that reflected her calm focus and thoughtful nature.

Audrey is survived by her sister, JoAnne Geiger (Geimer); her five children: Diane (Rob) Baldwin, Jeff Wright, Debbie Posedel, Chuck (Anna) Wright, and Patti (Henry) Kazmierowicz; twelve grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bertha Geimer.

Audrey will be laid to rest at St. Henry's Cemetery in Chicago, alongside her beloved mother, father, and grandparents-a peaceful return to the family who helped shape the remarkable woman she became.

Audrey will be remembered for her quiet strength, unwavering devotion, and the boundless love she gave so freely. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, the many lives she touched, and the warmth she left behind.

I love Aunt Audrey so much!! Always had an amazing smile on her face! I could talk to her about anything! She made the BEST cinnamon toast and we make her cookie recipes each year at Christmas. She was such a big influence on me growing up. I feel so blessed she was always part of my life! No matter how far away I moved. Thank you Aunt Aud for being a great friend to my mom. I loved your relationship! Rest in peace now. No more pain! Love you always and forever!
