Audrey Smith-Richards Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 24, 2024.
On January 19, 2022, Audrey Nadine SMITH-Richards (aka: Nicky), passed away peacefully at age 87, with her son Robert Richards & granddaughter, Stephanie Nadine Zukow, by her side. Audrey was the biological mother of 3 children, Michael L. Richards, who passed before her on February 18, 1977, one daughter, Karen Elaine RICHARDS-Zukow (Paul) of Corona, CA, & her son, Robert Donald Richards (Eileen) of Riverside, CA. She also leaves behind several grand and great-grand children.

Audrey was born & raised on Catalina Island, CA, on March 20, 1934. Her parents were Edwin & Lillian Smith. She lived in the same home in Garden Grove, CA, for 47 years where she raised her children. She was employed by Rockwell International in Newport Beach, CA & retired from there in 1999.

Audrey always provided love & support for her family. She cared deeply for her family and friends. Many of her children's friends considered Audrey their surrogate mom. Though Audreys health was failing for years, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. Her joy for life and indomitable spirit kept her pushing through the pain. Her strength & love clearly leaves a lasting impact on those who knew her.

While Audrey's family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember her in a way that honors her spirit. She will be scattered at sea near her beloved birth home, Catalina Island, along with her younger sister, Doreen Elaine SMITH-Kessler, who passed 1 year after Audrey.
