Audrie Palmer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 26, 2025.
Audrie McCollum Palmer, aged 86, went to be with the Lord on July 7, 2025, in Pensacola, FL. Born on November 26, 1938, Audrie's journey through life was marked by her resilience and ceaseless pursuit of personal growth. At the age of 36, she returned to education, earning her GED and subsequently a degree in accounting from the University of West Florida. Her academic achievements led her to a successful career in real estate, where she worked until her retirement.

Audrie was a voracious reader and a familiar face at the local library. Her intellectual pursuits were paralleled by her deep spiritual life, as a member of the Leonard Street Church of Christ.

She is survived by her loving family, including her daughters Sondra Thompson (Larry) and Shelia Marcum (Michael); sons Michael Caraway (Pam) and Stephen Palmer (Jen); granddaughters Ashley Rivera (Javier), Lindsay McCrory, Jeane Gardner (Matt), Catherine Bergstrasser (Jason), and Kristen Palmer; grandsons Zachary Palmer; great-granddaughters Olivia McCrory, Adriana Rivera, Myla Gardner, Ainsley Gardner, and Juliet Gardner; great-grandsons Ezra Gardner and Ethan Bergstrasser; nephews David, Kevin, and Ronnie McCollum; sister-in-law and special friend Chris McCollum; and lifelong friend Ann Hardeman.

Audrie was preceded in death by her parents Alton and Clara McCollum, brothers Alton Jr. and James Huelen McCollum, daughter Marilyn Caraway and best friend Jean Jones.

Audrie will be interred at Barrancas National Cemetery. A memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, honoring Audrie's memory.
