Age 103, on April 3, 2015. A resident of Bloomfield's "Little Italy", he was the beloved husband of the late Rosaria Trapani; father of Joseph (Katherine) Tabuso and Angelo (Sue Anna) Tabuso and the late Carmella Tarallo (Giovanni); loving grandfather of Francesco Tarallo, Mary Ann Dibrell, Sara Clagett, Rosanna Heslet, Joseph Tabuso, Nicole Conte, Damienne Tabuso and Brett Tabuso; also survived by 18 great-grandchildren. He served in the Italian Army during WWII and was captured by the German Army. He spent several years in a prisoner of war camp. Augie left his native St. Elisabetta, Sicily, in 1956 in search of a better life for his family in America. He worked as a laborer for construction companies and as a landscaper well into his 70s. In his earlier years he enjoyed making homemade wine which he shared with many relatives and friends. He also loved working in his garden and his skills were unsurpassed. His tomatoes and figs were the talk of the neighborhood. He had a passion for painting and could always be found with a paint brush in hand ready to tackle any job. He resided in his Bloomfield home until his last days with the love and compassionate care provided by his family and eldest son, Joe, who was his main caretaker. Friends received Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the WINTER FUNERAL HOME, PC., 4730 Friendship Ave. Funeral on Wednesday at 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Maria Goretti Church, Friendship Campus at 10 a.m.
