Augustus Benjiman Swett III, 77 of Monticello died Wednesday August31, 2022 at 11:38 pm in Memorial Medical Center Springfield, Illinois.

A family led memorial service will be held Saturday September 10, 2022, at 12:00 pm at the Cisco United Methodist Church Cisco, Illinois. Rev. Tabitha Nelson will be officiating. Memorials may be made to the UMCOR (United Methodist Church on Relief), 458 Ponce de Leon Avenue N.E. Atlanta, GA. 30308, in memory of Pastor "Buzz" Augustus Swett III. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is assisting with the arrangements.

Buzz was born in February of 1945, in Walterboro, SC., son of Augustus B. and Mary Frances Swett II. He held a batchelor's Degree from Eastern Illinois University and a master's degree from Governors State University. Buzz served in the U.S. Airforce from 1966-1987retiring as a Master Sargent He was a draftsman for the University of Illinois and a United Methodist Pastor in Shelbyville, IL. Cooperative Ministry from 2004-2007, Garver Brick United Methodist Church and Wesley United Methodist Churches 2007-2015, Wesley United Methodist Church 2015-2021. He loved his family and friends, model trains and driving his Kubota. Buzz married Linda Wenz and she survives.

Also surviving are his daughter, Cathy Swett (Tim) Martinie, grandson, Bryan (Sherry) Martinie, great granddaughter, Andrea Renee Martinie, sister, Shirley "Bunny" Swett Banks, numerous cousins and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Augustus (Benji) Swett IV.
