AVA BOOTH Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Feb. 19, 2011.
BOOTH, Ava Elizabeth Blevins, just five days short of her 94th birthday, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2011, after a short illness. Although Lizzy's love for history and genealogy were well known in her home town of Paris, Texas, her two favorite words were "Mom" and "Granny." Born in Paris, Texas, she was most proud to see others succeed, always encouraging those close to her. On all holidays, she had something special at her house for kids to enjoy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony H. Booth Sr.; and a son, Robert Olin McArthur; her father, Roy C. Blevins; and mother, Laura Roberta Walker; a sister, Maurine; and a brother, Olin. Survivors include a half-sister, Sara Cathryn; son, Tony H. Booth Jr. and wife, Marsha, of Richmond, Va., and their son, Michael Benjamin of Atlanta, and daughter, Lisa Michelle and her life partner, Sheila, of Kansas City, Mo.; Robert's daughters, Lynn Ann of Loganville, Ga., Ava Kathleen of Dover, Tenn., and son, Tony Cross; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her closest friends, JoAnn Parkman and Bob Jenkins, both of Paris, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2011, at Congregation Or Ami in Richmond, Va. Rabbi Ben Romer and Rabbi Iz Koller will officiate. Friends will be received at the home of Tony and Marsha Booth following the service and again on Monday, February 21, after 12 noon for Shiva. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Autism Society of Central Virginia, The Greater Richmond Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, or to a charity of your choice.

Tony, you know how much I loved your mother. To me, she was Aunt Liz. You are correct. She always had cookies in the cookie jar, candy in the cupboard, or we would end up making something on which to nibble. Making 'mud pies' in your driveway was always a treat. Your mother was a lady with many talents..so creative. I know you will miss her.
Love,
Cousin Susan
