Ava Cummins Obituary
Ava had a love of music and art from day one. Ava loved all types of music, she'd be equally happy going to see Elton John in concert (her 17th birthday present) to singing along with Billie Eilish; to belting out Broadway tunes and Disney ballads. Music was a huge part of her life.
Her love of performing on stage with friends was profound, but her favorite place to shine was at home. There you would find Ava's bright light as she danced, joked and sang, accompanied by her friends & family. During Covid, this amazing girl planned a prom night for her family - a time to sing and dance and laugh through tough times. If you were fortunate enough to be there when she sang, you knew you were seeing something magical. She could lift up a whole room with her light and spirit.
On March 30, 2022 surrounded by her Mom, Dad and family, Ava's light shot into the heavens. She was embraced into the loving arms of her Grandmas Renata and Narcy, Grandpa Al, and Uncle Jim, while being nuzzled by her beloved dog, Teddy.
As we are devastated by the loss of our loving light, Ava, we will lift each other up as she has done for so many others. She taught us to be compassionate not only to others but to ourselves. We used to look to her beautiful eyes to see the stars, now we will look to the night sky to see her eyes shining down on us. Sing so Ava can hear you, dance whenever possible, and laugh often and always. Ava was an exceptional young woman who was loved more than words can say, but perhaps the words are meant to be sung.
Ava leaves behind her loving parents, Brian and Mary (Lisowski) Cummins; siblings, Nathan and Brian; Grandfather "Poppo" James Cummins; Uncles and Aunts, Randy (Susan Wexler) Alexander, Dan Lisowski, Nick (Sue) Lisowski, Mark (Karen) Lisowski, Bridget (Chris) Jarecki, Julie (Chris) Nelson, Jenna (Max) Kien; Aunties Michaela, Eleanor and Katie, and Uncle Scott; Cousins, Kyle, Noah, Drew, Nicky, Alex, Brittany, Jacob, Andrew, Emily, Charlotte, Alex, and Christophe and an amazing group of caring friends. Ava was a friend to all pets. She will be especially missed by her two dogs Jojo and Winston.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ava's memory can be made to the following charities that were important to her. Ava was a lover of all animals and her advocacy shone through her volunteer work at local animal shelters, Cache Creek (Frankfort) and Nelrose Rescue (Chicago). Her compassion for others will shine on through donations made to NAMI Chicago.

ava was the definition of a kindred spirit. just a week ago we were catching up and laughing in class. she was the person who taught me it was okay to be different when everyone was the same. she sang songs like no other and never failed to make me laugh. i cherish every moment with her. prayers and thoughts to the entire family, i am so sorry for your loss

I was blessed with the honor of having Ava as a freshman in English while also having Nate as a senior. They both shared with me the memory of sitting on their father´s lap while he read books to them and how they loved when he read each character with a different voice. It was a very special memory for them and I believe they felt forever impacted by it. Ava was ALWAYS eager to read aloud in class and when she did it was magical. She read with ease. She with inflection. She read with passion. We were very lucky to have her presence in the classroom. Ava was also always kind and compassionate to others. She made you feel comfortable and welcomed. I also had the pleasure of seeing her perform in a couple concerts at school as well. It was heartwarming to see her gift, love and talent for performing transcend to a place outside of the classroom. Ava is a sweet soul. I believe she is with us. I believe she is reading with passion. I believe she is singing. This earth will miss her physical presence but I know her spirit is still shining bright. Love you Ava...see you in the sunshine

Ava was like one of my closest friends I would call her my bestfriend. We had such little time together I wish I could go back and relive it all. She always knew how to light up a mood, she always could make you laugh, seeing her in school made my whole school day. It´s gonna be so hard to live life without you ava.you and your family were the sweetest people. We were just talking about the collages we were going to and our future plans and graduation and that English essay we´d know we´d get a good grade on so many things that we didn´t get to do together. your were the most sweetest person I´ll love you and miss you forever.
