AVENETH MADELEINE MALLETT D'AQUILA Aveneth ("Av") died on Tuesday morning, July 15th, 2008, at Greenwich Hospital. Born in Stamford, CT, Av's parents, John T and Cecelia Saulnier Mallett, kept fresh her Nova Scotia family heritage. Av was predeceased by her beloved husband of 49 years, Matthew D'Aquila of Stamford, her sisters, Anne Clark, Celia Jones, Norma Defoe and her brother, Kenny Mallett. She is survived by her daughter, Avie Donovan and grandsons Eacei and Calan Pogue from Palm Springs, California, many cousins, nieces and nephews in Greenwich and Stamford, and her cousin, Victor Saulnier of Halifax Nova Scotia, and nieces and nephews there. Av was a devoted homemaker and great cook, known for Memorial Day picnics for 50+ relatives at her home in Stamford, CT. She was an avid reader and enjoyed needlework and sewing. She also enjoyed football, baseball and Lacrosse games, movies and plays as well as parties and dinners with friends. She moved to Greenwich in 2004, where she lived with Nick and Christine Edwards and attended the Greenwich Senior Center on a daily basis, enjoying activities with all her friends there. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday morning at 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Sienna in Riverside, CT followed by a reception at the Tomes-Higgins House at Christ Church, Greenwich from 12:15 to 2 pm. Transportation from the Greenwich Senior Center will be provided to St. Catherine's at 10:30 on Monday, then to Tomes-Higgins House and will return to the Senior Center by 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the Greenwich Senior Center or the Transportation Association of Greenwich. (TAG).
