January 28, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Avery Cameron Goodman on January 28, 2025, at the age of 25. He fought a courageous battle with Thymic Carcinoma, demonstrating immense strength and resilience until the very end.

Born on February 16, 1999, in Tulsa, OK, Avery truly lived life to the fullest, embracing every adventure with passion and determination. He was a race car driver who thrived on adrenaline, a mountain biker who conquered even the most difficult trails, a talented craftsman who most recently built both a camper and a house, and a fisherman who found peace by the water. More than anything, he was a beloved son, brother, and soulmate whose love and kindness left an indelible mark on those who knew him.

Quiet by nature, Avery's wisdom spoke volumes. When he had something to say, everyone listened, knowing his words carried thoughtfulness and meaning. Though his time with us was far too short, his impact will last a lifetime.

He is survived by his father, Michael Goodman; his mother, Sonya Villagómez; his brother, Lane Goodman; the love of his life, Shaylé Finch; and his beloved dog, Seymour.

Celebration of Life will be held on February 16th, 2025 (Avery's birthday) at Cain's Ballroom from 1 to 3 pm.

We met the Goodman´s and Avery in travel baseball when the boys were young. Avery was the type of kid you were just drawn to when you met him. Quiet, focused and extremely wise for his young years. Tremendous athlete and baseball player. If you needed a hit you wanted Avery at the plate. If you needed a strikeout you wanted Avery on the mound. He was a true gamer!

Great memory was we were in Dallas for a tournament and the boys wanted to go race cars at a local indoor track. The cars were electric and really quick. Avery was cruising and beating everyone. Mike wouldn´t join us because he was the professional racer and it wouldn´t be fair. After much harassing we got Mike in a car and yes it wasn´t fair for the rest of us but not Avery. Avery got in Mike´s pocket and it took some work to shake him. Avery was only 10-12 at that time. We all knew then he had the Goodman racing gene. Pure natural adrenaline driven talent. Loved that kid!

Avery was a teacher. From 6-18 years old he had taught me so much about life he knew the ins and outs of this world that we live in. He was incredibly smart a hard worker. He was never afraid to stand up what he believed in. He shared his experiences from life to try and help other people truly a great person. I don´t have a true brother but in this case he was the best older brother I could of asked for

Watching my son Colton and Avery play little league baseball together. Avery would spend the night with my son as a little boy and was such a bright fun kid to be around.

I met Avery through Skateboarding when we were younger. Every weekend, sometimes every day we would be out skateboarding all over Tulsa.

For my birthday one year he came with me out to California and Arizona. It ended up being one of the most memorable trips I´ve been on. I had him constantly joking around and pushing me to skate faster. The kid was fearless while we were out on these roads that were definitely way beyond our skill limit. Even though we didn´t get a chance to see him much these last few years, he´ll always leave a lasting impact on me.

Fun fact: His dog Seymour is named after a Traffic Cone we found on the side of the road while we were skating.
