Erskine Family,

I am sorry to hear about the loss of Mr. Bob Erskine. He was the principal at VHS when I taught there for 7 years. He was very much respected and was known as a fair man. He was supportive of me continuing my education during the time I was at VHS. He went beyond the professional scope in allowing me to visit my Mom during her last months of life. My prayers are with the Erskine family.

Sincerely,

Sean B

To the Erskine family,
Mr. Erskine was the first Principal I ever worked for and set the bar high for future ones. VHS was my first teaching/coaching job in 1977 and he was without a doubt the best Principal I ever had the pleasure working for. He backed the teachers and enforced just the right amount of discipline on the students. He was a great role model not only for the students, but the teachers as well. Pat, I am so glad I had the opportunity to work with you too! I know your dad was so proud of you and your accomplishments! I know I am just one of many that will always cherish my memories of VHS and Mr. Erskine! My prayers are with your whole family at this difficult time. Jan Hirt

Cathy,Pat,Mike and family:

It was with great sorrow that I read about Bob's death yesterday. Don Beth joins me in wishing you comfort and strength at this time.

Bob was the best! I worked under four Principals after coming to Victoria in 1954 and teaching there at Patti Welder VHS until 1985 and he wins the cup hands down. He was so fair, always caring and supportive for all the school programs at Victoria High School. I never knew a Principal that supported his teachers like he did if he knew you were right...and you heard about it if he didn't think so!

Bob was the first man I met from Victoria when I was taking a Supervision course at UT-Austin in the summer of 1954..Dr. Ayre's class. He told me about the band vacancy and I followed up on it and have never regretted it.

What a fine man and an inspiration to so many students and teachers! He did so much for me personally and for our students.

God bless you all.

To the Erskine family

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at such a difficult time. Mr. Erskine was certainly one of my favorite people! He was a great principal and gave me my first and only teaching job here in Victoria in 1980.

I still remember how I felt after the interview. I knew that Victoria High would be a great place to work and it was because of him.

I also considered him my friend and though after retirement I rarely saw him he was never far away from my thoughts.

I remember the flowers that he and Mrs. Erskine sent less than a year ago when I had my heart attack. A few months after that I saw him for the last time as he was hospitalized. I delivered a card to him signed by many of his former faculty members. We always told our favorite Bob Erskine stories at breakfast. ( I am sure we will continue to do so)

I am saddened by his passing but grateful for his impact on me and my family. Mrs. Erskine, Mike, Pat, Jill, and to others in his family that I may not know please know that Mr. Erskine was and is a well respected part of this community and will be greatly missed.

I worked for Mr. Erskine, at Victoria High as a teacher until he retired. He was an exceptional person to know and a joy to work for. He knew just how to keep the teachers, the students, and others that were on staff going to make the quality of education at Victoria High a success. I would like the family to know that he will be greatly missed by those who he made an impact on in Victoria. I offer my sympathy and my prayers to the family. Just remember all the good times that you had to share with him, because I will remember the times he got on me as a teacher in good and bad times. He made me a stronger person in education and for that I will always be greatful for. I will continue to pray for the family.

Prayerfully submitted,
