Barbara Weiner Babow was born in May 1938 in San Antonio Texas to Harry and Pauline Weiner. She was raised in San Antonio, where she graduating Thomas Jefferson High School. Although she enrolled in Univ. Texas at Austin, her life changed when her parents urged her to go on a blind date with a nice Jewish soldier from California stationed briefly at Fort Sam Houston. Their words, "It's just one date; you don't have to marry the guy" proved to be so very wrong. She went on that date, A few months later, while Larry Babow was stationed in Germany, Barbara transferred to UC Berkeley, close to Larry's family. After his return from Germany, they got engaged. They were married in the fall of 1958, shortly before Barbara's graduation, a marriage that thrived for more than 63 years, until her passing on April 19, 2022 at her home in Sonoma, CA.
Barbara was a giant ball of energy packed into a small body. During her life in Marin County, CA Barbara both raised two children- Brent and Barri - and was a top salesperson for Transworld Systems, winning numerous awards over decades. She had a wide network of friends and colleagues, but would also frequently strike up conversations with complete strangers, who soon would be pulled into her orbit. She and Larry travelled the world, were subscribers to several theater groups and symphonies, and participated in many local lecture and educational programs. She was an active member of the Jewish community and the Marin community, and gave time to several charities and organizations. Typically, she and Larry were busy 5 or 6 nights a week, between events and social engagements.
Barbara loved bright clothes, eclectic fashion and large jewelry. She and Larry were known for their lively themed parties. Barbara also stayed in constant contact with her family and friends in Texas and around the country.
Barbara passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family. She is survived by husband Larry, her two children and their spouses Brent Babow/Kristin Prentice and Barri Babow/Mike Kirkland; her two grand-daughters Shira and Maya Babow; her brother and sister-in-law Sig and Jo Weiner of Virginia, and her niece and nephew, and their families; and her many cousins and relatives, most still in Texas.
Barbara was a true people person - always asking questions, engaging in conversations, and looking for ways to help others. She will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Temple Rodef Sholom in San Rafael on April 29 at 10:30 am.

Patty & I are saddened by the news about Barbara's passing. Our condolences go out to Larry, Brent and Barri, as well as her friends and extended family.
Barbara was the most Senior Sales Rep for TSI and her strong work ethic and genuine care for her clients are well known among the TSI family and senior rep team.
We traveled every year from Tiburon, to Cancun, and from Hawaii to Newport RI, sharing stories of success, best practices, and news about our families.
Barbara always asked about Patty and our four girls and was one of the sweetest women I've ever known.
The picture below was from a cruise on Lake Tahoe in 2010. Barbara will be dearly missed but not forgotten.

Barb and I were roommates several times over the years at TSI. She never failed to address me in text or in person as "Lovely" Linda and always made sure I had a banana or an orange for breakfast ( always caring and nurturing others) A favorite memory was when she and Larry hosted me in their home and took me to San Fran for a guided Babow tour and dinner. What a blast!
My prayers of comfort go out for Larry and the family. Barb will be sorely missed.

Barbara was one of the sweetest ladies we have ever known. One of the Pioneers of TSI who so enjoyed helping her clients. Her passion for people and TSI was a model for many. We still have several of her Emmory boards with the "Smooth Out Your Cash Flow". An icon at TSI and personal friend that will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Small is stature, HUGE at heart.
Feel the Love Barbara, R.I.P.

Barrier, I'm so sorry to read about your mom's passing. I believe I met her during our school years together but definitely knew her from Transworld. She was a dynamo and will certainly be missed. Nancy Kelly
