BARBARA BAKER Obituary
BARBARA JEAN (ZELONKA)
After a courageous battle with ALS on Thursday, November 19, 2015, Barbara Jean (Zelonka) Baker, of West Deer Twp., formerly of McCandless Twp. Wife of loving husband and best friend, William N. (Red) Baker; sister of Dr. J. Richard Zelonka and dear sister-in-law, Nancy; daughter of the late John and Marie Zelonka. Also mourned by close and devoted friends. Barb had a 42-year career at Mellon Financial Corporation, commencing in Corporate Trust in 1963 and ending in Corporate Crisis Management. She always considered Mellon to be "the best employer in Pittsburgh" and her co-workers to be the best of the best, many of whom remained lifelong friends. Friends received Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at SIMONS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 7720 Perry Hwy., with Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Private entombment in Allegheny County Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family expresses gratitude to Barb's dedicated circle of friends and caregivers, the AAC Clinic/ICAN Talk Clinic, the ALC Clinic, and particularly Dr. James W. Boyle, who continually supported Barb throughout her difficult struggle with kindness, encouragement, and compassion.

I worked with Barb in Corporate Trust a long time ago. I have fond memories of the fun times we had in the office, sitting around her desk with the other girls for coffee and donut hour! I have thought about her often in years gone by. May she rest in peace in the arms of our dear Lord. My deepest sympathy to her husband, family and friends. May God Bless.
