Barb Barkwell of Calgary passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 23, 2018 at the age of 88 years. Barb is survived by her two sons, Mike (Sheila) and Larry; three grandchildren, Jessica (Nicholas Lee), Donald, Patrick; and her great- granddaughters, Abby and Lily. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Donald Barkwell; as well as her parents Mabel and Lawrence Acres. A private gathering will be held at a later date. Barb was a great lover of animals and there were many dogs and cats resident in the Barkwell household throughout the last sixty-five years. The most memorable pet to the family was Barb's husky cross, Jenny, who led her to many hours of walking each day. Barb was also an avid supporter of what was then the SPCA. Barb also loved the horse races and liked to tell the story of when she was pregnant with Mike, she had her best day ever.
