Barbara Jean (CHEATTA) Collins Blanchard, aged 76, passed away on June 25, 2025, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Born on March 15, 1949, Barbara's life was marked by her vibrant participation in community traditions and her devotion to her family. Barbara was a beloved member of the Blessed Sacrament/St. Joan of Arc Church, where she was actively involved in church activities. Her faith was an integral part of her life, providing her with strength and comfort. Barbara's love for her community was also evident in her enjoyment of New Orleans' famous second lines, where she was a regular on Sundays, celebrating the city's unique culture and spirit with friends and family. Barbara leaves behind a loving family, including her daughter, Keoka Montez Collins, and sister, Arleen Robertson (Cookie). She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Allen Collins Sr., her son, Earnest Leon Blanchard Jr. (Chico)., her brothers, Leslie J. Smith (Poochie) and Allen Collins Jr. (Brother)., and her sister, Barbara Jean Wells. Barbara's legacy also lives on through her grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and numerous relatives and friends who will miss her deeply. The final rites will be held at the Blessed Sacrament/St. Joan of Arc Church, located at 8321 Burthe St., New Orleans, LA. Visitation will begin at 9am followed by the Mass at 10am. Barbara will be laid to rest at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Norman Mayer Ave., New Orleans, LA. Arrangements are being handled by Professional Funeral Services, 1449 N. Claiborne Ave., New Orleans, LA. Barbara's life was a testament to her loving nature and her passionate embrace of life joys. She will be remembered for her warmth, her unwavering faith, and her enduring love for her family and community.
