Barbara Jean “Bobbie” (Schroeder) Braun, age 93, of Sun City West, Arizona, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025. Barbara was born to Erwin and Leone (De Wall) Schroeder on July 19, 1932, in Appleton, Wisconsin where she grew up and graduated from Seymour High School in 1950.
Barbara was married to James Braun of Black Creek on September 15, 1951. They lived in the Black Creek/Appleton area for the 20 years of their marriage while raising 4 children. In 1973 they relocated their family to Kansas City, Kansas until they moved to Fayetteville Arkansas in 1988. They became snowbirds in 1996, spending time between Wisconsin and Arizona until moving to Sun City West Arizona full time. Barbara loved the sun, being able to enjoy walking outside and water walking in the community pool. She loved painting, playing bridge, and golfing with “the ladies”. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends; and traveled to Europe with her daughters on several occasions, creating fond memories. She was an active hospital volunteer and enjoyed helping children at the local preschool. Barbara and James would have celebrated 74 years of marriage this past September.
Barbara is survived b y her husband Jim, daughters Christine (Braun) Hillegas of Appleton, WI, Lorie (Braun) Veatch of Salt Lake City, UT, Pamela Braun of Phoenix, AZ, and son Jeffrey Braun of Surprise, AZ. Grandchildren Ryan Hillegas, Tara Blohowiak, Christopher Braun, Bryce Braun, Katie Veatch, and great grandchildren Kendyl, Harper, Charlotte, and Kylin.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her infant brother Elmer, son-in-law Mark Hillegas, grand daughter Courtney Woodward and many beloved family members.
A visitation will be held for family and friends on Thursday, October 2 from 9am to 11am with a memorial service at 11am with lunch to follow at Wichmann Tri-County Chapel 1592 S Oneida St. Menasha WI 54952.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Barbara’s name to a charity of your choice.
