Barbara Ann Caldwell Brownell 76, of Gastonia, passed away on Monday September 7, 2015. She was born February 18, 1939 in Gaston County, to the late Robert and Louise Caldwell. Barbara loved visiting both the mountains and the beach. She also enjoyed going to gospel singings. But, most of all, she loved her family. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 4 years, James Brownell; her children, James Hawkins and wife Mary, Mike Hawkins and wife Cherie, Louise Walker, Cathy Wilson and husband Robert, Jeff Hawkins and wife Amy; brother, Robert Caldwell Jr; sisters, Sue Bone and Marie McFarland; grandchildren, James Hawkins, Jimmy Hawkins, David Smith, Crystal Barrett, Brandon Walker, Shannon Walker, Jeffery Hawkins and Michael Hawkins; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Souls Harbor Tabernacle, Gastonia with the Rev. James Chambers officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00pm prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia, NC.
