BARBARA JO BRUNDIGE

BRUNDIGE--Barbara Jo (Shoen), passed away at home with her family by her side in Lattingtown, NY, on February 9, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. Barbara was born August 12, 1945 in Glen Cove, NY to Howard and Ida Mae Shoen (nee Secor). She attended Friends Academy, Skidmore College, and earned her Master's degree from Hofstra University in 1968 - the same year she married her college sweetheart, James (Jim) Brundige. Jim's Air Force career carried them south, but they returned to Glen Cove in 1972 to purchase North Shore Day School from Barbara's mother. After owning and operating the school until 1988, she embarked on a successful career in real estate on Long Island until her retirement in 2020. Barbara is survived by her husband of 54 years, her four loving sons and their wives, James Jr. (Vanessa), Jonathan (Lisa), Joseph (Shelly) and Jesse (Gabby); and ten grandchildren, Jordan, Taylor, Peyton, Cooper, Mason, Ava, Madilyn, Celine, Orson and Cal. Visitation at Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, 26 Franklin Avenue, Glen Cove, on Wednesday, February 15, 3-5pm and 7-9pm. A celebration of life will be at the First Presbyterian Church, 60 East Main Street, Oyster Bay, on Thursday, February 16 at 11am.
