BARBARA CHAMBERS Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 11 to May 12, 2021.
CHAMBERS, Barbara B. (Bayon) Of Wellesley, MA, died peacefully at her home with family on Mother's Day, May 9, 2021. She was 88 years old. Barbara was born on December 18, 1932, in Holyoke, MA to Edward and Ruth (Thompson) Bayon and graduated from Holyoke High School. Later, she earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts, where she met her beloved husband of 62 years, Anthony "Tony" Chambers. Barbara and Tony began their married life on a military base in Little Rock, AR before settling permanently in Bloomfield, CT for 49 years. During those years, Barbara raised 5 children and pursued her career in higher education at St. Joseph's College in West Hartford, CT as the Director of Continuing Education. Barbara was a very active member of Sacred Heart Parish in Bloomfield. After Tony's passing in 2017, Barbara moved to Waterstone in Wellesley, MA, where she enjoyed years of close friendships. Barbara also enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Gigi." She took great pleasure in sharing her music box collection with them. Barbara loved gathering with family for Sunday dinners and holidays, especially Christmas. Her living room would be crowded with family celebrating, and playing a lively game of Yankee Swap. She always looked forward to her "Cousin's parties." She especially enjoyed summer vacations with family on Cape Cod, weekends away in Vermont and New Hampshire, and getaways with lifelong friends. In addition, Barbara had a real love for flowers and gardening, and this passion transformed into a business she ran with a friend. She was the artist behind floral arrangements at many family gatherings and holidays. Her house was always filled with beautiful fresh flowers. Barbara is survived by her children, Anthony G. Chambers, Jr. of Natick, MA and his partner Kelly Precious, Lisa Barrett and her husband Timothy of Boston and Chatham, MA, Sarah Genck and her husband Timothy of Peterborough, NH, Mary Beth Tryon and her fiancé Joseph Usewicz of Sarasota, FL, and Amy Gordon and her husband John of Manassas, VA, her grandchildren Colin Barrett and his wife Megan of Medfield, MA, Molly Sanchez and her husband Marco of Swampscott, MA, Lauren Gaudet and her husband James of Boston, MA, Caitlin Barrett and her fiancé Tim Reagan of Boston, MA, Patrick Chambers and his fiancée Molly Myers of Boston, MA, Kevin Chambers of Charlotte, NC, Kyle Chambers of Boston, MA, Alexander Lorenzo of Boston, MA, Samuel Lorenzo of Boston, MA, Natalie Lorenzo of Los Angeles, CA, Kelsey Tryon of Jersey City, NJ, Abigail Tryon of Baltimore, MD, Ian Gordon of Fort Collins, CO, and Samantha Gordon of Columbia, SC, and her great-grandchildren Charlie, Oliver, Ella and Laila. Barbara is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her dearest Tony, Barbara was predeceased by her first born daughter Melissa Joan and her sister Joan Bayon Pinksy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 14 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 9 Glen Rd., Wellesley, MA 02481, followed by a Burial at Vine Lake Cemetery in Medfield, MA. To the family of my special Waterstone friend, Barbara Chambers, please know how sad I was to learn of Barbara’s passing. To know her was to love her. She always had kind words for everyone. I was surprised to learn from Barbara, that I actually knew her sister, Joan, many years ago. Barbara’s passing is a huge loss to our Waterstone community; she will always have a special place in my heart.
RIP, friend, until we meet again! Love, Mary Bowers
