Barbara Cottrill

Barbara J. Henderson Cottrill of Melbourne, Fla., succumbed to cancer on Monday (Nov. 26, 2007). A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Barbara had caring heart, a keen mind, and a quick wit. Born on August 7, 1933 in Fairmont, Barbara was a 1954 graduate of Fairmont General Hospital School of Nursing. Her training taught her how to combine professionalism with concern and warmth, and she enjoyed a successful and activity-filled career.Barbara worked as an R.N. at Lima Memorial Hospital in Ohio, and went on to establish and manage The Short Stay Surgery Unit at Suburban Hospital in Warrensville, Ohio. Her enduring commitment in helping many via nursing spanned 37 years through 1991.The daughter of the late Dorothy Wade Henderson and John D. Henderson, Barbara is survived by her husband of 53 years Robert L.; brother Jack (Frances) Henderson of Simpsonville, S.C.; daughter Rhonda (Roger) Pszonowsky of Palm Bay, Fla.; son Robert L. II (Erica) of Kennesaw, Ga.; son Randal (Heather) of Henderson, Nev.; grandchildren Jennifer (John), Jacob, Christopher, Gabriel (Laura), Cody, Kristen and great-grandchildren Jack, Madeline, Lillian and Gwendolyn.A memorial service and reception will be held Thursday, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 110 New Haven Avenue, Melbourne, Fla. 32901.
