Barbara Demerritt Obituary
Barbara Anne DeMerritt of Nashville, formerly of Massachusetts born January 17, 1943 passed peacefully from this life April 1, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Esther Hopkins, life long friend, Mary Gilbert and other close family members
She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Nashville. She had a long working career and retired from Belle Meade UMC.
Barbara never met a stranger and had a great love for animals, promoting their welfare and caring for many throughout her life.
She is survived by her dearest friend, Judy Simpson, goddaughter Joy Gilbert (Michael Miles), nieces, Pat Hamilton (Bill), Sue Jeunesse ( John), nephew, Wayne Hopkins (Edna), and several great nieces and nephews. and many other close frriends.
A memorial service will be held at Belle Meade United Methodist Church on April 12th, 2025 with visitation from 1-2 and the service at 2:00 with the Rev. Jim Hughes officiating.
Donations may be made to Best Friends Animal Society, Nashville Humane Association or other animal organizations of one's choice.
