Barbara Devlin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 19, 2024.
Slinger of witty quips, wrangler of amusing observations, fount of mischievous giggles, Barbara Felice Devlin drifted from this earthly plane on November 14, 2024.

She was the beloved "MiniMamoo" to Sheila Devlin and Alyssa Devlin, daughter to Dante and Caroline (Sabarese) Luciani.

Her absence will be felt by her surviving siblings Patricia Walsh (James), Victoria Narcissi (Robert), Dante Luciani (Sarah), many nieces, nephews, and cousins, her cadre of loyal friends, her extensive Devlin family, her son-in-law, Jon Huss, and her cat, Fuzzwump.

We hope she will be reunited in some cosmic manner with her parents and sister, Marie Snow, who predeceased her.

Barbara spent her career as manager of a molecular biology teaching lab at Princeton University. She earned the moniker "Lab Mamma" due to her inherent impulse to tend to the flock. If she saw someone struggling or in need, her generosity, care, and dry humor would buoy them. Her default was always toward altruism.

Barbara had a talent for making lasting friendships that she treasured. She was a big personality in a small package. She would pantomime exasperation every time she was referred to as "cute," "tiny," or "adorable," though even she would admit she squarely fit those characterizations.

She will be deeply missed for all of the endearing idiosyncrasies that were distinctly her own, for her knack in finding joy and comedy in the mundane, and for her amazing, seemingly effortless culinary and artistic gifts.

She was the bright spark that lit up our lives. Her afterimage will always linger.

I can remember how remarkably hospitable and welcoming she was the times that i had the lovely opportunity of staying at her house in New Hope. Her cooking was always scrumptious and I loved her garden and the overall feeling of the house was so warm and kind just like she was. She was always so fun and full of stories. She was an amazing person and she was a wonderful friend to my mother in particular and I´ve always been so grateful to her for that especially.. if there is a heaven and I like to think so, she will be there for sure. Doing all the same wonderful things she always has:)

Feisty, outrageous, generous, flirtatious, loyal, compassionate, frustrating, independent, sensitive, funny, artistic, fearless, irreverent, exasperating, passionate, forgiving, complex, loving ... my little sister will always be part of my heart. I miss her more than I could ever imagine. Her spirit leaves on in my beautiful nieces.

So many memories with my sister, but my favorite was having her hold my grandson in her arms. Now, she is held by the arms of Angels.
