Barbara Tuggle Ezell

Born on August 22, 1940, died on November 4, 2016 due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by her husband of 54 years DeWitt Ezell, her son Stephen DeWitt Ezell, (granddaughter; Sigrid Elizabeth Ezell), her daughter Janet Ezell Hood, (grandsons; Andrew, Alexander and Wesley Hood), and son-in-law Paul B Hood. Barbara was a loving and devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She will be missed by her many friends. She loved playing the piano, bridge and reading. Barbara (Mimi) especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She will missed by her family and her many friends.

Her parents Mr. and Mrs. J M Tuggle preceded her in death.

Barbara graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1958 and Emory University in 1962 where she received a degree in English. She was a member of The Kappa, Kappa, Gamma Sorority and served a term as president.

Barbara loved teaching Jr. High School English in Nashville and Birmingham, Alabama. Later she earned a Master's degree in Library Science from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She excelled in her new vocation as a Librarian and was named Teacher of the Year at Greenwood Middle School in Birmingham.

In 1991 she followed her husband's work to Nashville and worked as a community volunteer while care giving for her parents and in-laws. She was a faithful worker in the Women's Auxiliary of the Salvation Army. Barbara was a long time member of West End United Methodist Church and the Cokesbury Sunday School Class.

Honorary pallbearers are Members of the Cokesbury Sunday School Class, the girls in the class of 1958 at Hillsboro High School.

A special recognition to Carol Bone, Melissa Bullock, Julia Audretch for the loving care they gave Barbara during her extended fight against Alzheimer's.

A celebration of her life will take place at West End United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 12 at 4 PM with family visitation from 2:30-4:00 p.m. prior to the service. Officiating at the Memorial Service will be Rev. Michael Williams. In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to the Alzheimer's Association of Middle Tennessee, The Salvation Army or West End United Methodist Church.

DeWitt,
We are so sorry for you and your family's loss. Barbara brought us a plate of homemade goodies when we moved in behind you, all those years ago. She was such a wonderful and classy lady.
