Mrs. Barbara Reid Icard, 83 of Hickory, went to her eternal home on Thursday March 10, 2022 at her residence after a period of declining health. Mrs. Icard was born January 19, 1939 in Cleveland County, a daughter of the late Andy Thomas and Mary Williams Reid. She was employed as an administrative assistant within the banking and dental industry. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and stayed active attending all her children's and grandchildren's concerts, ballgames and any other activities they were involved in. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Ervin Icard, a daughter, Jacquelyn Brown, a brother, Thomas "Bud" Reid and a sister Marilyn Revels. Surviving is her son, Jerry Stone (Martha) of Hickory, daughter, Kimberly Norman (Alan) of Hudson, sisters, Joan Franklin and Rachel Webber. Also surviving are the loves of her life, her grandchildren, Taylor Lail (Jimmy), Jordan Brown, Jairus Brown, Hunter Freeman, Brody Burns, Sonny Burns, Breanna Norman, Cali Norman, Carter Norman and great-grandchildren, Haiden Dale, Jordan Brown, Jr., Alena Brown, Bri'elle Norman and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Barbara Reid Icard will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday March 16, 2022 at Winkler's Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Paul Deal officiating. Entombment will follow in the Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese, NC. Memorials may be made to Carolina Caring Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658.
