Barbara Lund Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 17, 2016.
Barbara Catherine Lund, 80, of Manasquan.

On April 16, 2016, the love of our lives passed. Barbara was a loving, caring, compassionate, and talented woman who always brought warmth to others with her smile and cheerfulness. The memory of her love for us will continue indefinitely and our love for her will last forever. She will be a great addition to Heaven and a great loss for us on earth.

Barbara was born in Roslyn, NY on November 15, 1935 to the late Michael and Nellie Bastock. Her family moved to Levittown, PA where she completed high school and studied X-Ray radiology. After completing her education, Barbara relocated to Point Pleasant, NJ and was employed by the Point Pleasant Hospital as an X-Ray Technician.

Barbara married Ted Lund on May 9, 1970 and they settled in Manasquan, NJ. While raising her sons, Barbara was employed at the Manasquan Elementary School (MES), Manasquan High School (MHS) and at NJ Diagnostics. Additionally, Barbara was active in her community participating in both the MES PTO and MHS Big Blue Boosters.

Along with her husband she is survived by son, Ted and his wife Kate; son, Geoff and his wife Laura; four grandchildren, William, Brady, Madeline, and Abigail; and her sister, Penny Bastock. Barbara's parents and her sister, Mildred Whitley, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 2-4pm and from 7-9pm at the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South Street, Manasquan, NJ. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 9:30am at St. Denis Church in Manasquan. Entombment will follow at St. Catharine Cemetery in Wall Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834-1365. Dear Ted Lund & family,
Having returned to NJ recently, I read about the news of Barbara's passing. I hope that your fond memories of her will comfort you during this time of sorrow.
My sincerest sympathy.

Ted losing a wife is one of the deepest sorrows a heart can know. Because she was so dear to you, her memory will live on, just as the fragrance of a flower still lingers when it's gone. The beauty that was hers alone in thought is with you still. And in the hearts that love her, she lives on and always will.
Ted and Geoff you were a special part of her life and you made her very happy. So when you're remembering all the special together times she touched with the love only a mother can give, maybe it will help you to think of the joy you brought to her life, how much she loved you, too. Your mother will always be remembered.
May you find the hope, peace and comfort your mother would wish for you now.

Our warmest sympathies to all of you on the loss of this special woman. When I was young, there were some constants in my life. One was vacationing at my sister Carolyn's on the Jersey Shore and the other was her best friend Barbara. When you met her, Barbara treated you like family, only better. She always had a kind word, a smile and you always felt welcome no matter what she was in the middle of. Even when I had my youthful crazy ideas, she would always just listen sympathetically and offer her best advice. She was like your mother, only lots of fun. You never left her home before eating a delicious meal, and once in while, you'd be lucky enough to enjoy one of Barbara's exceptional martinis! Her infectious laugh kept your spirits up and you couldn't wait to visit with her again. I wish I could be there to hug all of you. Barbara was The Best. Love, Susan, Richard & Alan Chapulis.

My Dearest Cousin Teddy,
With Sincere Sympathy to you and your family and may all the support of those around you bring you comfort, but more important, may the warm, loving and fun memories of Barbara heal your heart & give you peace.
With love & prayers - Cousin Nancy
