Josephine Montes

Josephine Montes, 65, entered into a new life with our Heavenly Father December 12, 2009. Her family and friends were at her side throughout her final hours at St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino, California.

She was born February 21, 1944 to Joe Flores and Rebecca Padilla in San Bernardino, California. Her father died in combat in World War II and she was raised by her grandmother, Dolores Padilla and her uncle, John Padilla in Colton, California.

She was an educator for more than 30 years, employed by the Colton Joint Unified School District. She loved teaching and making a difference in the lives of the many children entrusted to her. Her favorite place to be was near the ocean which brought her joy and peace.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph R. Montes, her two devoted daughters, Bernadette Bastiaans and Monique Hernandez-Ryan, her uncle, John Padilla, her two sisters, Mary and Nancy, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

A mass will be held at 9:00am Monday, December 21, 2009 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 10816 Mountain View Ave Loma Linda, CA 92354. The visitation will be from 11:00am-2:00pm at Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3520 East Washington St. Colton, CA 92324.
