Barbara Masters Obituary
March 27, 1935 - June 12, 2017
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Barbara was born in the Bronx, New York, and at 14, moved to Riverside, CA. She attended UC Berkeley, and after graduation in 1958, married and started her career as a Computer Programmer at Berkeley Lawrence National Laboratory, then Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena in 1963. During her career, Barbara most notably and proudly worked on the Pioneer, Voyager and Galileo spacecraft missions. Barbara met George Masters at JPL where they developed a lifelong friendship and married in 1984. They had a wonderful marriage until his death in 1995. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Wendy Steinberg, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was an extraordinary woman and is deeply missed by many. A memorial gathering to celebrate Barbara's life will be held on Sunday, August 6, at 4:00pm at Neighborhood Church,
301 N. Orange Grove, Blvd. in Pasadena.
