Barbara A Meleedy

Barbara Ann Meleedy (Boutin), age 89, of Acton, Massachusetts passed away at her home on October, 9th, 2023 after living a full life. She was predeceased by her husband Francis J. Meleedy (Frank) on December 20th, 1989.

Barbara was born on May 31st, 1934 to the late Andrew and Dorthea Boutin in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She graduated high school from St John High School, Class of 1951 in Cambridge, MA where she was on the women's basketball team and a member of the Tall Girls Club of Boston. She started her career as a trucking billing clerk at Associate Transport and moved on to Pacific Intermountain Express and retired from Roadway Express.

She and her husband Frank along with Barbara's father built her house in Acton in 1959 from a home design found in the Better Homes and Gardens magazine. Barbara was known for her organizational skills, kind personality and her love of reading, Kimball's Ice Cream and bowling. She volunteered at the town of Acton as an Elections Poll worker, was a Brownie leader and volunteered at the Deutsche Bank Golf Tournament. After retirement she spent time doing the things she loved like exercising, bowling in a league at Acton Bowladrome, meeting her friends for coffee and traveling the world. She and Frank were long-time members of St. Elizabeth's of Hungary Roman Catholic Church in Acton.

She is survived by her children: Patricia Meleedy-Rey (David) of Framingham, MA, Joanne Meleedy (Paul Rondeau) of Bridgewater, NH, Kevin Meleedy (Tony Curtachio) of Tampa, FL, Francis Meleedy of Chelmsford, MA and Kathleen Meleedy of Brewster, MA. She was a Nana to: Daniel Rey (Grace) of Evanston, IL, Kelsey Rey of Philadelphia, PA, Josephine Rey (Caitlin Gaffney) of Cleveland, OH, James Daugette Jr of Boaz, AL and Madison Haas (Nick) of Opelika, AL. Barbara was also a Great Grandmother to: Fiona, Natalie and Lydia Rey and Baby Haas who will enter the world in March, 2024. She was the loving sister of David Boutin, Francis Boutin, the late Andrew Boutin and the late Marie Nadeau.

Friends and relatives are invited to Barbara's Celebration of Life. Wake will be held on Friday October 13, 2023 from 4pm-6pm at Acton Funeral Home, 470 Mass Ave, Acton. and a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth's of Hungary Church, 89 Arlington St., Acton, MA on Saturday, October 14th, 2023 at 10am. Barbara will be laid to rest for eternity next to her husband at Westview Cemetery 520 Bedford Street, Lexington, MA 02420.
