New London, NH — Ruth Ann Blakeney White, 88, of New London, NH, beloved wife of George Green, passed away at home on June 14, 2022 while surrounded by her family.

She was born November 7, 1933 to Charles and Margaret Blakeney of Woodstock and Greenland, NH. Ruth graduated from University of NH in 1951 and Dartmouth College in 1983. She moved to New London in 1972 where she taught 8th grade Social Studies until she retired in 1995. Her love for teaching never faded, as she gave a talk on New London's Quaking Bog just one month ago. Ruth was an avid hiker, hiking all of NH's 4000 footers while in her 50s and Mt. Lafayette for her 80th birthday. She and George travelled extensively-kayaking, canoeing, hiking and geocaching while searching for birds and wildlife to photograph. They enjoyed the company of many friends during many of their hiking and birding adventures over the years. Ruth was active in the New London Conservation Commission, Knights Hill Nature Park, and was a volunteer Naturalist for the Appalachian Mt. Club.

She is survived by her husband, George Green and her children, Eric White of Sullivan, NH and David White of Hopkinton, NH along with their spouses Deborah and Brenda. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ryan and his wife Errin, Jay, and Sloane, and three great grandchildren Harrison, Eliza, and Ellis. Ruth also has an extended Canadian family who were very dear to her.

The family would like to especially thank Georgie Green and all those who helped care for Ruth during her final weeks at home.

There will be a Celebration of Life for friends and family at the Kearsarge Community Presbyterian Church Foulkes Hall, 82 King Hill Road, New London, NH on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 3:00 P.M.
