Barbara Quigley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 15, 2025.
Barbara Ann (Hill) Quigley was born on November 27, 1942 to Charles and Dorothy Hill in Indianapolis, Indiana. She passed away on September 7, 2025 surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents and son Kevin. Barbara is survived by her husband Jerry Quigley, sons Chris (Angie), Mike, daughter Erin (Andy), granddaughters Delaney, Makenna and Sarah. Siblings Michael, Patricia, Mary and Phil. Many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Barbara attended St. Michael grade school, St. Mary Academy and St. Vincent School of Nursing graduating in 1963.

She married Jerry on February 8, 1964. They settled in Zionsville, Indiana. For more than 60 years, they walked this world together and maintained a loving, nurturing environment for each other and their children and grandchildren. Her presence in the day to day is already missed immensely.

Barbara's favorite home in Zionsville was on Starkey road. She designed the house and its surroundings were ideal for raising children and enjoying the outdoors. There were woods for the kids to play in, a vineyard and ponies.

Barbara was a dedicated nurse and had a calling to help others. She had a decades long nursing career. She worked for Fairbanks Recovery Center, Indiana School for the Blind and the Department of Health as a nursing home inspector among other places. She was as dedicated to people she was treating as she was her family. Barbara did all things at all times to the best of her ability, whether you needed a stitch, an ice pack, a hug or an ear, she was there.

Barbara was the mother we all want. She had an endless amount of energy when it came to caring for her family. She was an unwavering pillar of strength, love, assistance and comfort to her children in every stage of their lives.

Barbara was a passionate gardener. Hydrangeas were her favorite and hers are the best on the block. She was a wonderful home decorator and holiday hostess.

After retirement Barbara and Jerry enjoyed countless vacations in Holland Michigan with various family members.

Barbara enjoyed time with her granddaughters, having sleepovers and watching movies. She also had a big sweet tooth, and there was always ice cream and chocolate available. In recent months strawberry croissants became breakfast and sometimes lunch.

She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins very much. They also loved her tremendously. Her love, compassion, advice, smile and presence will be missed forever.
