Barbara Sievers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 16, 2025.
Barbara Jean Sievers (née Betzold) of Duluth MN passed away on July 11, 2025, in her home as she wished. Born on June 22, 1946, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, to Richard Warren and Geraldine Rose (Hamernik) Betzold.

Barb dedicated much of her time to cultivating a stunning flower garden. Her yard was a testament to her dedication, blooming with an array of beautiful flowers that brought joy to her and her neighbors. During the winter months, she shifted her focus indoors, delving into family history and genealogy, uncovering and preserving the stories of her ancestors.

Barbara met life's challenges with remarkable courage and resilience. She had a skill for listening and holding her tongue, which she did not pass on to her daughters. She was a woman whose stubbornness stayed with her and her daughters to the end. She raised four strong, independent daughters-Lorrie (Rob) Svadlenka, Angela (David) Vadnais, Rhonda Sievers and Cheryl (Troy) Templer. Her legacy lives on through them and through her cherished grandchildren: Sterling Anderson, Haylie Anderson, Noelani Vadnais and Tenley Templer. And great granddaughter Summer Rose whom she was able to meet briefly. Her grandchildren brought her immense joy and she cherished every moment spent with them.

She is lovingly remembered by her siblings: Jo Ann Haagensen with whom she shared a special bond, Craig Betzold, Dawn Conrad, Robin Kritzeck, Brian Betzold, and Gerald Opperman.

She was preceded in death by her brother Richard "Ricky" Betzold, parents Dick Betzold and Jeri Hoff, paternal grandparents Bernard H Betzold and Rose Ada Palmer, and maternal grandparents Maximillian Hamernick and Mary Super.

Though no longer with us, Barbara's spirit will surely linger in the hearts of her loved ones and in every bloom that rises to greet the sun. May her memory be as enduring as her favorite perennials.

In accordance with Barb's wishes, there will be no services.

Sweet Barb loved her family so much! And she certainly was stubborn. I couldn´t help but try to get selfies with her whenever I saw her. She didn´t like to have her photo taken, but I could tease her to the point where she would give in.

Rhonda, Angie, Cheryl and Lori I am sending you all hugs. I´m sad your Mom left when she did. She definitely made an impression on everyone who met her. I´m happy I was able to get to know her even the little that I did. She was a gem.

We will miss Barb's presence here on the hillside, miss seeing her figure kneeling like a young girl among her flowers. Her garden reminds us of her every time we pass by. That is her legacy. And so are her daughters, great women who are friends as well as family. Barb did well with her family, and I know she must have felt much joy in them.
