Barbara Joyce Allen Smith

On January 22, 2023, Barbara Joyce Allen Smith, 75, suddenly passed away surrounded by family and close friends. Barbara was born July 30th, 1947 in Columbus, GA. She graduated from Augusta Medical College in 1972 and worked her entire career as a registered nurse caring for her patients as only, she could. Barbara traveled the country working for various hospital systems where her skills and specialties were needed most. She loved to cook and was an avid antiquarian, always ready to shop. As an avid reader she was always searching for the next best mystery author. Barbara was a loving and caring person always ready to help others in their time of need. She was loved dearly and will be missed by all who knew her. Barbara was preceded in death by her father Russell David Allen and her mother Dorothy Hestley Allen, and her sister Linda Stoffle. Barbara is survived by her daughter Susan Sheldon and her husband Jeff as well as her son Chip Smith and his wife Hope. She is also survived by her grandchildren Emily, Russell, and Katherine along with one great-granddaughter Adeline. A celebration of life will be held at her residence in the spring when her daylilies are in full bloom.
