Barbara Jean "Bobbie" Smith

Barbara Jean "Bobbie" Smith, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away on January 27, 2024, in Greenbelt, Maryland, at the age of 66. Barbara was born on April 4, 1957, in Washington, DC, to Geneva (Morse) Smith and Raymond Spriggs. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Geneva "NeeNee" Smith.

Barbara, known to many as Bobbie, was the outspoken life of the party, always the connecting point to her family members and loved by all. She was a dedicated bus driver for the DC public school system for over 20 years, where she made lasting friendships and significant impacts on the lives of young people, a role she truly cherished.

Barbara's love for her family was evident in her willingness to help anyone in need. She is survived by her daughter, Kristian (Charles) Boston, granddaughter Kennedi, sister Terry Nuriddin and brother-in-law, Haamid Nuriddin, niece Terry (Terris) Caudle, favorite niece Beatrice Smith, great nephew Tyler Smith, great niece Emma Smith, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Barbara enjoyed spending time outdoors, exploring new places, and driving anywhere she could. She had a sweet tooth but was not known for her culinary skills. Making people laugh with her jokes brought her immense joy, and in recent years, her granddaughter became the highlight of her life.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Barbara's life will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Nativity Catholic Church in Washington, D.C., where she was an integral part of the church family. Barbara was raised Catholic and also attended services at Saint Augustine church.

Barbara Jean "Bobbie" Smith will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. May she rest in peace.
