Barbara Gale Starkey, age 78, passed away May 2, 2024. Her parents were Raymond (Marjorie Ancell) Starkey, both deceased.

Barbara lived a simple life. She loved animals, especially cats, including her pet cat, Callie Jo. She loved Kingdom songs, Elvis Presley, dancing, and roller skating. Her favorite color was purple. She was a devoted servant of Jehovah and a member of Wood River congregation for 74 years and loved engaging in the field ministry until her failing health no longer allowed her to do so.

Preceding Barbara in death are: A son, Larry Wayne Whitehead, A brother, Richard and wife (Joyce) Starkey, Uncle Clifton and Aunt Imogene Ancell, Uncle Leroy and Aunt Flora Starkey, Uncle Ira and Aunt Clara Westfall, Uncle Ernie and Aunt Tointeet Ancell, Uncle Joe and Aunt Phylliss Apel, Cousin Dennis Starkey, Cousin Earlene Militello, Great nephew and niece Andrew and Angela Starkey, Cousin-in-law, Janie Starkey.

Surviving: Nephews, Rick (Lori) Starkey, Ramsey (Nikki) Starkey. Nieces, Rachel (Joey) Ellenbecker, Kelsey (Dalton) Sanson. Cousins, Dorothy (Charlie) Sauls, Daniel Starkey, Colleen Starkey.

Last names of other relatives: Starkey, Sauls, Scott, Maurasti, Endicott, Militello, Catlett, Ancell, Sanson, McLaughlin, Dillon, Harris, Westfall, Powers, Apel, Boosomworth.

Long time family friend, Pete Dixon.

Special family and friends who cared for Barbara: Dorothy Sauls, Rebekah (son Zach) Sauls, Twila McEuen, David and Carol Wall, and all those who assisted her in the ministry, with household issues, doctor and dental appointments, prayers and cards.

Cremation done by: Mark's Mortuary, Wood River, IL. Obituary will be listed online only at Legacy.com.

Memorial Service at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Cottage Hills, IL.

Tuesday - June 4, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.
