Barbara Tichenor Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 20, 2025.
Barbara Tichenor, 82, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Barbara was born on November 1, 1942, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She married the love of her life, Richard Tichenor, and together they built a rich and vibrant life. Over the years, they lived in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Arizona, before ultimately settling in Lakewood Ranch, FL. Each place held special meaning and reflected the many chapters of their enduring partnership.

Barbara earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Pennsylvania State University and went on to dedicate nearly two decades to teaching fifth grade. Her commitment to education reflected her deep intellectual curiosity and passion for nurturing young minds.

Later in life, she and Richard embarked on a new venture as co-owners of five successful candy stores named Sweets From Heaven. Their entrepreneurial spirit and shared vision were emblematic of the rare and enduring bond they shared-a love that served as the foundation of their family.

Barbara was a woman of quiet elegance and profound inner strength. She embraced health and wellness long before it became fashionable, living with both discipline and joy. Her interests were wide-ranging-she loved to travel, read voraciously, cooking, and immerse herself in the arts, music, and theater. These passions enriched not only her own life but also the lives of those around her.

At the heart of Barbara's world was her family. She was a devoted wife to Richard until his passing, a nurturing mother to Pamela Izard and Kevin Tichenor, and a beloved mother-in-law to David Izard and Kerry Tichenor. She was also a cherished grandmother to Katie Izard, Hayden Izard, and John Izard-whom she adored with all her heart. She and Richard delighted in sharing their love of travel with their family, taking their grandchildren on memorable trips around the world. Among their favorite destinations were Italy, France, the Caribbean, and England-places filled with beauty, culture, and family memories. Her presence was grounding; her home was warm and full of life. With quiet wisdom and steadfast love, she guided those closest to her through life's joys and challenges.

Barbara's legacy is one of resilience, quiet strength, and thoughtful presence. She met life's challenges with unwavering dignity and calm, offering steadiness and love to those around her. She was the heart of her family-the one they turned to for comfort, insight, and strength. Her example continues to guide and inspire all who knew her.
