Barbara Lynn Watson

Barbara Lynn Watson, 55, of Mentor, passed away Friday, August 7, 2020, after fighting a courageous battle with life-long health challenges.Barbara, born June 7, 1965, was a loving, caring and generous person who made everyone she met feel special. When Barbara smiled, the world became a better place. Barbara graduated from Mayfield High School in 1983 and Mount Union College in 1987. She played varsity tennis in both high school and college. Barbara dedicated her life to helping children as a special needs teacher in Mentor, and as an educational guide at Lake Farmpark. Barbara loved golf, snow skiing in Western New York and water skiing on Chautauqua Lake. Barbara volunteered with her dad delivering Meals On Wheels and with her mom at Ronald McDonald House, assisting families with children being treated at local hospitals. Despite her own challenges, Barbara never stopped thinking about others and never lost the love that shined so brightly through her sweet, sweet smile.Survivors include her parents, Ronald and Roberta “Bobbie” Watson; siblings, David (Abbie Bole) Watson and Kathryn (Andrew) Watson Stibora; niece, Annelise; nephews, Nathaniel, Beckham, Landon, Aidan and Aldwyn; uncle, David Kelley; aunts, Sally (Bill) Carlsen and Christine (James) Capitan; cousins, Michael, Susan and Jonathan Kelley, Bryan and Timothy Olson, Glennyce Wood, Andrew, Bradley and Kelly Yoder.Preceding Barbara in death are her great-grandmother, Margaret “Momo” Wright; grandparents, David and Mary Escovitz, Elwyn Heller, M.D., and Jack and Margaret Watson; great aunt and uncle, Annie and Alden Jennings; aunt, Eileen Kelley.Services will be held at a later date.The Watson Family would like to thank the staff at Altercare Mentor for the excellent care Barbara received.Contributions may be made in memory of Barbara to Hospice of the Western ReserveP.O.
