Barrett J. Dorsey, 65, of Syracuse, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Upstate University Hospital following a brief illness. Barrett also worked and volunteered with several social services organizations in the Syracuse area.
Barrett was known for his compassion, his kindness, his intelligence, his loyalty, and for his wonderful Irish wit! He maintained all of these qualities during his illness.
Barrett was predeceased by his parents, John W. and Grace B. Dorsey, and his brother, John W. Dorsey Jr. He is survived by his partner of 23 years, Dr. Richard Giaccio; his sisters, Elizabeth D. I have fond memories of Barry during our high school years. He was always a fun guy and good friend.

I knew Barry at Oswego during our college years. I remember well his wit. We both attended the Neuman Center and if Father knew you, he would say your name. So Father would say, "Barry, the body of Christ". Barry asked him "Do you really want me to bury the body of Christ?". Henceforth it was "The body of Christ, Barry" or "Barry, this is the body of Christ". He was a nice guy.

Barry was truly a fun guy! I can still picture him at St. Pat's in the starring role of the school rendition of "Cheaper By The Dozen" He stole the show! To the Dorsey family, I'm sorry for your loss. He will be missed!
