Blacksburg - Barry Franklin Childers, 66, of 313 Crescent Circle, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Mary Black Health System - Spartanburg.
Born in Gaffney, he was the widower of Nancy Smiley Childers and the son of the late Basil Franklin Childers and Alma Sue Fowler Childers. Mr. Childers worked at Eaton.
Mr. Childers is survived by two sons, Shane Childers (Jennifer) and Bryan Childers (Samantha); one daughter, Leah Brown (Chucky); one stepson, Rusty Fortenberry; one step-daughter, Lori Fortenberry; two sisters, Becky Varner and Rhonda Childers; 12 grandchildren, Clayton (Shawnda), Bryce, Lydia, Abigail, Conner, Logan, Jackson, Elijah, Shaylee, Charlie, Jessie, and Josie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 20, 2022, from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, South Carolina 29702. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Clayton Childers, Bryce Childers, Jackson Childers, Elijah Childers, Logan Moffitt, and Conner Moffitt will serve as pallbearers.
The family will be at the residence of Shane Childers at 1460 North Mountain Street, Blacksburg, SC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, 403 West Montgomery Street, Gaffney, SC 29341.
