BARRY KAPLAN Phd
On Saturday, April 15, 2023. Barry Bernard Kaplan of Washington, DC, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, died in the company of his wife, son, and loving family. Barry was the beloved husband of Annie Kaplan, father of Raymond (Glennyce) Kaplan; brother of the late Marilyn and Howard Kaplan; and loving grandfather of Sebastian Kaplan. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, 2 p.m. at Wellwood Cemetery, Pinelawn, NY. Shiva will be observed at the home of doctors Leah and Jonathan Hodor, services start at 7 p.m. on Thursday and 4:30 p.m. on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribtions may be made to CurePSP, 1216 Broadway, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10001. Arrangements entrusted to TORCHINSKY HEBREW FUNERAL HOME, 202-541-1001.

Dear Kaplan Family, I joined NIH in 2000, and Barry was one of the first people I met there and I liked him immediately. In addition to his fine mind, I enjoyed his wonderful sense of humor and great humanity. He brought problems in scientific ethics alive and helped many a budding researcher write more effective grant proposals. Please know he is a great loss to the NIMH community, and we miss him.
