I met Barry in 2000. He got me an IT job at Union Bank (one of his clients). Barry and I hit it off right away and I lived in San Francisco at the time. So I came to LA with my wife and niece for a weekend and to meet Barry in person.
We all had a fun dinner at a Brazilian restaurant. At the end of the night, Barry insisted we all sleep at his place that night instead of at a hotel.
When we arrived at his condo, Barry also insisted that my wife and I use HIS bedroom (instead of the lesser appointed guest room).
That was the first and last time I ever saw Barry in person and unfortunately, I've never met anybody as kind and generous as Barry.
I'm very sad to hear that he has died but I'm glad to get a chance to thank his parents for raising such a fine upstanding and super friendly man as Barry was.
I'm sure everybody who knew Barry thanks you too.
Sincerely,
John DeGeorge

Barry is a man who continues to touch God's heart for eternity because of his compassion for the weak and poor.

Barry was one of my very best friends, and I always appreciated his friendship since we met in St. Louis. I miss talking with and confiding in Barry, and often think of our fun times, stories, and conversations. He is certainly missed.

To a great, funny guy, and the hardest worker: you always said you were 'a lover not a fighter'; but you were a fighter. You were so strong and never gave up on life.

I was Barry's former CPA and we shared the same birthdate, exactly 10 years apart. He always mentioned his desire to help young underprivileged children and his related philanthropy work. He told me he had the best Mother in the world, and she traveled to be by his side while fighting the cancer. May his soul rest in peace and his charity continue.
