Watson, Baxter Brown
age 99, died at home on January 3, 2023. He was born on the family farm in Hatton, Missouri on March 23, 1923. He attended Westminster College, where he had the privilege of escorting President Truman and Sir Winston Churchill to the podium for Churchill's "Iron Curtain" speech. Following his military service, from 1942 to 1945 in the Army Air Corp., he studied fine arts at Washington University. His career was in residential and commercial interior design. He was an avid reader of social history (Churchill, World War II, historic maps, 1500-1850 years), a collector of antiques, photographer, and a passionate researcher of his Scottish clan Guthrie heritage. He is survived by many cousins and dear friends.
Services: Memorial service Saturday, February 4, at 11:00 a.m., Bonhomme Presbyterian Church, 14820 Conway Road, Chesterfield. In his memory, donations to Westminster College or America's National Churchill Museum, 501 Westminster Road, Fulton, MO 65251, are appreciated. www.boppchapel.com
