Beate "Betty" SOBANSKI

Passed away peacefully at her home in Mississauga, with her son and daughter in-law by her side, on Tuesday, August 8, 2022, at the age of age 96. Beloved wife of the late Tadeusz 'Ted' Sobanski (2009) and loving mother of Lawrence 'Larry' (Jacky) and the late Barbara (Lorenzo) Piro (2022). Loving grandma of Victtoria, Lorenzo Jr., Oma to Christopher, Victoria and Maxine. Betty was a loving great-Oma to Frank Jr, Leah, Landon, Quinnton, Claria, Benjamin and Logan. Betty was born in Dortmund, West Germany on August 3, 1926 to Heinrich and Maria Grundman. After the war she met Ted at a work camp, where they fell in love and decided to start their new life as a family in Canada. Betty had a passion for cooking, she was a successful restaurant owner of 'Betty's Restaurant' in Chippawa, Ontario, where she was most famous for her home cooked meals. After selling the business she operated another successful catering business, where she hosted many functions serving the best polish and German foods. Her passions didn't stop at cooking, Betty loved to travel and see the world. She was a socialite, a fire cracker, a person who loved everyone for who they were. She had a huge heart and would give the shirt off her back for anyone who she felt was struggling in life. Ted and Betty often traveled to Cuba where they met many Cuban families who they became long time friends with. Her generosity and love for people has been felt by many, and for those who had known Betty, would know that she wanted nothing but happiness for others. We know that we can't have you but we're happy knowing that the angels have finally got you back. Goodbye to a wonderful woman and a beautiful gentle soul.
