Beatrice Jensen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 26 to Dec. 27, 2022.

On Saturday, December 3, 2022, Beatrice Werner Jensen, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother finished her course in her long life, and peacefully slipped into the arms of Jesus, and all her waiting loved ones, at the age of 102 years and 9 months.

Bea (as she always preferred to be called) was born in India on March 5, 1920 to Lutheran missionary parents and spent the first nine years of her life there. She was intelligent and graduated from New Britain, CT, high school at age 17 in 1937. From there, she went to Wagner College on Staten Island, NY, where she met her future husband, Everett J. Jensen. She graduated from Wagner in 1941 and received her Master's Degree in nursing at Yale University in 1944.

Everett and Bea were married, in a double wedding ceremony with Bea's sister Louise and her husband Wally, on May 28, 1944. Together they had four daughters, and celebrated 51 years of married life together before Ev's death in 1995.

Bea was a wonderful mother and loving, caring and compassionate friend to people of all walks of life. She stayed at home raising her daughters while Ev ministered in various churches in different locations. Later on, she returned to work as a registered nurse and greatly enjoyed her time working in the operating room at University of Washington Hospital in Seattle.

In their retirement years, Bea and Ev fulfilled their love of travelling by working as tour organizers, and took many people on many great trips around the world. Bea has been on every continent except Antarctica.

Bea had a great and witty sense of humor and will be forever remembered by the people whose lives she touched with her generosity, and kindness.

Bea was always an active member and supportive pastor's wife of each church that Ev pastored. She also loved singing alto in the choir. Her last church membership was at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in downtown Seattle, where Ev had been a pastor from 1956-1964.

Bea was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Everett J. Jensen, her daughter Kathy Marambe, and grandson Ian Sackett, and because of her long life, all of her siblings and lots of friends.

She is survived by her three daughters Karen Mann (Pete) of East Helena, Montana; Margaret Sackett (Robert) of Burien, WA; and Elizabeth Jensen of Shoreline WA; grandson Wade (Shawta) Sackett, and granddaughter Joan Fleming (Kevin), and three great-grandsons.

A celebration of Bea's life will be held at a later time.

How grateful I was in 1989 when Ev agreed to officiate (and Bea volunteered to hostess) Chuck and my wedding at their lovely home. My having known Margaret and Bob for many years made that connection all the sweeter. Chuck and my simple wedding was a precious celebration, one I will always remember with great fondness.

What a wonderful, full and exciting life she had. Her reward will be great in Heaven. She sounded like such a wonderful Momma.

To all the Jensen family: Bea was such a delight and a treasure to all. So many lives are enriched by her love and faith. All the Saxton family send prayers and special blessings to all of your family. (Deanna (Saxton) Sherman and Elizabeth have known each other since early gradeschool.) May God bless and keep each of you in the palm of His hand and bring you peace. Love, Deanna for all of us.
