Beau Hodges Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 11, 2025.
Beau David Hodges, 48, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, in Los Angeles, California. He was born January 10, 1977, in Santa Cruz, California, and spent his early years exploring his rural Soquel neighborhood, enjoying sunny days at the beaches near his grandmother's home in Capitola. When his younger brother Max was born four years later, Beau embraced his role as a devoted older brother.

Beau showed an early aptitude for art, especially with pen and ink. As a teen, he taught himself to play guitar and keyboards, eventually becoming a gifted musician and songwriter. At 21, he moved to Los Angeles and eventually established himself as an independent sound mixer in the entertainment industry. For more than 15 years, Beau worked with The Tennis Channel, traveling to India, South Africa and other exotic locations. He truly loved his career and had great admiration for his colleagues.

In 2004, the birth of his daughter, Clarissa, became a defining joy in Beau's life and he was welcomed into the Luong family. Beau relished his role as a dad, the "fun" uncle to Clarissa's many cousins, and a brother to the extended family. He became deeply involved in the lives of Clarissa and her family, running, climbing and playing games with the kids, joyously immersed in their world.

In both his work and family life, Beau was known for his unwavering dependability, always showing up for others, offering help without hesitation, and anticipating needs before they were spoken. He was remarkably intelligent, quick-witted, and playfully spirited, with a deep sense of curiosity and a fiercely independent mind. His presence brought comfort, insight, and laughter to all who knew him. He will always be remembered for the light he brought into the world.

Beau is survived by his beloved daughter, Clarissa; his devoted parents, Cindy and step-father Dane; and his brother, Max. He shared a special bond with his grandmother, Cecille, and his Aunt Deb. Since childhood, he was lucky enough to have Buddy and Erin by his side, their friendship constant through every stage of his life. Beau also remained close with the mother of his child, Ming Mae, and her seven siblings along with many cherished nieces and nephews, including Gregory, Eric, Kagen, Katherine, Korbin, and many more who will carry his memory forward with love. Also important to his life was the Ken Howey family and his step-siblings, Seth and Kelly. In his final years, Beau was blessed with the loving companionship of Jamila, a supportive presence in his life.

Services for Beau will be held Thursday, July 17, 2025, 12:30 - 1:30 pm (Pacific Time) at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, Church of the Hills 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90068

Beau was a good friend to me. He made me laugh and smile every time he was around, bringing joy and positivity to every day of work we did together. I had the great fortune of working with someone as skilled and patient as Beau through many seasons of TV doing highly technical and often under-appreciated boom operation. Beau gave me an immense respect for the sound department and the professionals who seam the chaos of images together with the reliability of sound. Beau was constant and consistent and professional at work. The few times we spent outside work enjoying a meal or hiking he inspired me with his thoughtfulness and wisdom. We will miss your humor and kindness Beau, but your heart and example of the power of listening will never leave me.
