Ben J. Elrod

Ben J. Elrod was born Oct. 13, 1920, in Bryant, Ark., and passed away Jan. 26, 2008, in San Antonio. Funeral services will be held Jan. 30, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Trinity, Texas, at 10 a.m. with Everett McCollum and Jeff McDonald officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, at Trinity Funeral Home. Mr. Elrod was a carpenter and retired building inspector with the City of Houston. He was a member of the Joe Werner Masonic Lodge No. 553, Order of the Eastern Star No. 186 of Trinity, Trinity VFW No. 6899, Caarpenter and Millwrights of Houston and Arabian Temple of Houston. Mr. Elrod is survived by one daughter, Rita Piper; granddaughter Sherry Jones; grandson, Scott Piper and wife Lori; 2 great-grandchildren, Coylor and Colby Jones; nephew, Buddy Elrod and his wife Charlene. Pallbearers will be Joe Werner Masonic Lodge No. 553, Mike Williams, Roy Crutchfield, Steve Harper, Tom Hunt and Clyde Sims.
