Benjamin Enriquez Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 13, 2014.
Benjamin B. Enriquez Sr. was fondly known as "Tisoy" the "Golden Boy". On September 30, 1930, Ben was the new bundle of joy to Crispina and Pedro. He grew up as the mediator among his nine siblings because of his unforgettable, sense of humor. He was funny, and his jokes were one of a kind. Unfortunately, he loss his father, his best friend at age ten during WWII. They bonded so well because he was a mirror image of his father because of their looks and their character. Although, there was one main difference that made them separate: athletic abilities. Ben unlike his father was able to master a multitude of sports which he inherited from his talented mother. Ben's athletic talents paved his way through school with scholarships. His love for golf started at age nine when he was trained by a professional golf player. Along with golf, he mastered swimming, boxing, tennis, basketball, and fencing. His innate ability to box led him to become an Olympic athlete for the Philippines in 1952, Helsinki, Finland. Once the olympics came to an end, he was nationally awarded as athlete of the year by the Philippines as well as marksman of the year. After his tour during the Olympics, he served as a Commander of the Navy Seal Frogman where he was an expert of underwater demolition. He was sent by the Philippine Navy to Coronado, San Diego to train and graduate from the toughest program for Navy Seals. Out of the three hundred candidates, he was one of the eight that graduated. Benjamin's persevering character carried over into other aspects of his life especially when he met the love of his life, Eloida. From the moment he laid eyes on her and her statuest built in yellow, he knew she was worth waiting for. He always stated that Eloida symbolized the true essence of what it means to be a woman. His eight years of courtship led to their wedding on February 28, 1965. They were blessed with four children named Karen, Carolyn, Benjamin Jr., and Jennifer. Benjamin was a hard worker that never missed a day of work, and he was never a minute late. If anything he was early. He provided for his family with a smile, and he always showed his love for them through his actions and sweet words. He was a loyal friend, and he gave back to his community. He was one of the founders of Fil-Am Lions International, and he acted as one of the Presidents for the club. He participated in fundraising events and free medical services for the less fortunate. During these events and social gatherings, Eloida and Ben graced the dance floor. Time froze as they executed each dance step with style and elegance. They created an aura that entranced people to watch their every move. Ben's love for life grew and became more pronounced when his grandchildren were born. He cherished every moment with Eren, Gabriel, Taylor, Maya, Kyle, Diego, Hana, Mason, Devan, and Jordyn. He brought laughter into their lives, and he remained a role model to them by stressing the importance of education. Benjamin received a Bachelors in Business Management/Commerce from Far Eastern University. His accomplishments have encouraged his grandchildren to reach their own potentials in all aspects of life. Benjamin B. Enriquez was a passionate man that gave 110% of himself with a smile. He loved life and his family. He was a sentimental fool to the end.

I miss you so much lolo. I wish i had spent more time with you when i was living with you. I remember how you would make me laugh and draw pictures for me. I would always have to take care of you while lola was gone. My best memory was when i had to fight you over ice cream because you werent allowed to eat sugar. We miss you and love you lolo and i wish that i would have you around when i was older.
