Benjamin Everage Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 20, 2014.
Benjamin Arthur Everage, 78, of Homestead, FL, passed away, March 19th 2014.

"Ben" was 1 of 10 children and youngest boy born to the late William & Nippie Lee Everage in Brantley, AL. He graduated form Luverne High School in 1955 and immediately moved to Homestead to join a few siblings that were there working at a family grocery store. He then ran his own business in Homestead, "4th St. Market" for 25+ years, where he was always known as Mr. Ben. Retirement wasn't for him so he decided to become an Agriculture Inspector for the State of Florida, until the age of 77.

Ben never missed watching an Alabama or Florida sporting event on t.v., much so, that he would plan his day around a game. He loved fishing and spending time with his family, both brought him such joy. Having never lost his southern accent, and often using his own unique descriptive words, his story telling was always sure to captivate.

He is survived by his baby sister Sue (John) Maust of Brantley Alabama, & two sons Michael (Robin) Everage of Lakeland Florida, Richard (Karen) Everage of Homestead Florida, & grandson Aiden. He also leaves behind several nieces * nephews, & even more great nieces & great nephews, all of whom would always watch over their Uncle Ben.

In honor of Ben we would like any donations to be made to:

Ben, you were a mentor, role model, and most of all, friend to me. My life is richer for having you be a part of it, and your passing has left a void that won't be filled soon. Rest in peace.

Ben, I will miss you dearly. You were not only my co worker, you were my teacher and dearest friend. It was a privilege to know such a wonderful man like yourself. I will forever hold you in my heart. May you rest in peace in God's paradise. Love you always

Ben,
We will miss you!
The neighborhood has not been the same since you moved.
So many memories from the kids playing basketball with their friends when we moved in. Richie and Michael have grown into such wonderful adults.
We will have to bring the pecan pie to Richard to keep the tradition going.
You will be dearly missed.
Love you guys,
The Hoffman's

Ben was my friend. Always showed the utmost respect and kindness to all. I have had the privelege of working around Ben for many years. I always looked foreward to my hugs from him. He will surely be missed.
