Benjamin David "Dave" Kern, 88 of Colorado Springs, CO, formerly of Wooster, Ohio, passed away on December 22, 2022 following a brief illness at a Rehabilitation Center in Colorado.

Dave was born in Columbus, Ohio October 30, 1934 to his late parents, Albert F. Kern and Mae Lehner.

He graduated from Elm Valley High School in Ashley, Ohio in May 1954 Immediately following the graduation ceremony, he married his sweetheart and wife of 68 years, Beverly Joyce Westbrook. They had 3 sons together.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during peacetime in the Korean War.

He held several jobs throughout the years, ultimately retiring from the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio in the late 1990's.

Dave was a very talented woodworker. With his own workshop in his home, he crafted many things, such as grandfather clocks, furniture and various household items. These items are now cherished by his family.

He attended Grace Church in Wooster, Ohio and previously attended Woodville Grace Brethren Church in Mansfield, Ohio.

Survived by his loving wife Bev (Colorado) who misses him dearly, his three sons Randy Kern (Pam) of Colorado, Mike Kern (Jodi) of Arizona and Steve Kern (Celeste) of Germany. Six grandchildren Jacob Kern (Amy) , Peter Kern (Breanne), Elise Tucker (John), Rendee Kern, Jackson Kern and Alex Kern, and three great grand-children.

Preceded in death by his parents, brothers John F. Kern, George Kern, sisters Sarah Bennett, Mary Balyat and Polly Headley.

A private family memorial was held in December in Colorado Springs to celebrate Dave's life. He will be missed by all who loved him.
