- Live ... in Love and Light -

Benjamin Gregg Ramey was born in Rockville, MD on May 14th, 1997. In his beautiful 27 years of life, he touched many lives with love and light. He graduated from Rockville High School in 2015 and went on to study marketing and business analytics at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. He graduated in 2019 with his BA.

After a long and difficult struggle with various illnesses, our beloved Ben died by his own hand early in the afternoon on Saturday, October 12th.

He is survived by his parents, Jennifer and David Ramey, his sister, Maddie Ramey, eight aunts and uncles and eight cousins.

Ben was hilarious, Ben was so smart, Ben felt things deeply. Ben loved his friends and they loved him back. Ben was the cherished "Bub" of his family, the jokester, the sneaky and beloved baby of the family. Ben loved music, Ben taught kids how to play tennis, Ben loved sleeping late and Ben had a gigantic head that his cousin Will once said must contain two brains. It is, of course, impossible to summarize his life in this little box. His memory will live on in the stories we tell about him and in the moments that have not yet happened, but will happen, where we will wish more than anything that he was there, and he will not be.

He charged us not to remember him by his struggles but rather to Live ... in Love and Light.

He lives now in Heaven, in peace ... caressed by pure love and pure light.

Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Ben could see why he's special. He was sharp and witty, but never malicious. Any moment no matter how serious or awkward could be flipped into laughter. A great friend, and often the centerpiece of a good ol' fashioned hangout. Missed you even before you were gone. Rest easy my brother, sending my thoughts and love to your family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Through Dave´s stories, I feel like I knew Ben and your family. The joy in Dave´s voice when he talks about all of you fills the room with warmth and love. May your memories of Ben, heal your heart and inspire you live in love and light.

Dear Dave and Jenny,

I am so sorry for the loss of your son, Ben. He was truly a remarkable young man, and his absence is deeply felt. My family and I are devastated by your loss and share in your grief. Take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with our Lord and with family who have gone before him.

Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.

With heartfelt sympathy,
The Cordero Family

Dear Jenny, I was not fortunate enough to have met your Ben, however, MaryLou has told me what a lovely boy he was over the years. It is true that he is at peace and will not suffer in this difficult life anymore, yet my heart is still broken. I wish I could be with you but am saying many prayers for your whole family. Have courage. Love, Mich

I feel blessed to of known Ben throughout college and proud to be able to call him one of my Sigma Nu Brothers. He was truly a light of joy and could put a smile on anyone face. He will forever be missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to have known him.

In the depths of office chatter, a father´s pride unfurls,
A tapestry of growth, each thread a precious pearl.

Watching a child bloom, in stories fondly told,
A legacy of love, more precious than gold.

In offices and hallways, your joy shines bright,
Illuminating our days with borrowed light.
In every story shared, a family portrait grows,
Painted with laughter, warmth, and gentle glows.

Degrees of separation, yet closeness we feel,
To the kids and family, whose spirit you reveal.
Though paths may part, and time may flow,
The love you've shared will always show.

So, know that in hearts you may not see,
Your family's warmth, and Ben lives on eternally.

May Ben's memory be a blessing and the love and prayers of the many people who love you give you a measure of comfort. I loved hearing stories of Ben from Dave, his wit and humor. I am so sorry for your loss and for the pain you are enduring. Matthew 5:4 "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." - Rebecca Keightley
